Brian Mannix

Brian Mannix first came to national attention through his work as lead signer and songwriter with his band “The Uncanny X-Men”. Hit singles “Everybody Wants to Work” “Party” “How Do You Get Your Kicks” “Still Waiting” and “Fifty Years” saw the band achieve gold and platinum sales.
Appearances on Countdown, which Brian hosted regularly, and Hey Hey it’s Saturday saw the band attract a fanatical following that made them one of the most popular bands of the 1980’s

As an actor Brian has appeared in television productions “The Flying Doctors” “Neighbours” “Blue Heelers” “The Comedy Company” “Col’n Carpenter Show” “Last Man Standing” to name a few.

Brian also appeared in the movies “The Bit Part” starring Nicole Kidman and “Chopper” starring Eric Bana”
He has also enjoyed working in the theatrical productions of “Bad Boy Johnny and the Prophets of Doom” and “Ladies Night”

In 1997 Brian’s novel “The Broady Skulls” was released (some say escaped) with a forward by Simon Madden. The book tells the story of a new team in the AFL competition made up of disgraced international sporting stars, They play badly but cheat very well.

Brian also wrote and directed the hugely successful theatrical production of “Countdown-The Musical Comedy” and “The Bench” the football parody starring Peter Crackers Keenan.

Brian has also appeared live on many TV shows including Rove Live, Blankety Blanks, GMA with Bert Newton, Ernie and Denise, Long Way to the Top, Spicks and Specks and just about every radio station around the country.

Having recently performed with the successful national “Countdown Spectacular” tour of Australia, followed by a stellar live performance at the 2006 AFL Grand Final. For Australias' own Iggy Pop... the ball keeps rolling.

With over 25 years experience in the entertainment industry I think for Brian, the best is yet to come.

There have been many superlatives spoken of Brian over the years, but the most common one is…. “He’s a great entertainer"

While Brian is not writing movie scripts or making short movies or performing live or enjoying his beautiful family he sleepzzzzzzz.
